NetEnt Slots Review 2026: Tested on Three Phones, With Official RTP

Short answer: 2 of the 22 casinos we tested list NetEnt: JL7 and EG33. Our three testers scored it 5 out of 5 on their phones.

Our hands-on review of NetEnt slots

NetEnt's classic slots still play beautifully on a phone. Every game our three testers opened ran upright with no stutter, in Chinese, Malay or English, and the first one opened in two to four seconds, slowest on 4G. The picture is detailed and the controls respond quickly. The games they picked played steadily: Starburst's re-spins and Hotline's locked Wilds kept small wins coming. Two testers found the games generous and one finished about level, an impression of 15 minutes, not a payout figure. NetEnt has belonged to Evolution since 2020, publishes each game's RTP and maximum payout, and its site names a Malta licence that we checked.

What our testers noticed

  • Bernard: Starburst pays both ways and its Wilds lock in with a re-spin very often: a steady session where I held my own, just what a low-volatility game should feel like. The detail and picture quality are very fine, and it plays beautifully upright.
  • HY: Twin Spin's linked reels grew several times until four reels matched, and the wins came thick and fast. On 5G it responded instantly, and it plays very well upright.
  • Rizqi: Hotline's Miami-style expanding Wilds lock in place, and it kept paying small wins, so I stayed level and then edged ahead. The interface is beautiful, and it was stable on 4G.

These are NetEnt's published figures, read from its own game pages on 16 October 2026, not a promise about the game you open: the RTP shown in the game's information screen at your casino is the one that applies. NetEnt also publishes how often each game pays a win, from 19% of spins for Dazzle Me to 41% for Gonzo's Quest, and rates Starburst the least volatile of these nine and Dead or Alive 2 the most. We left Dead or Alive 2's maximum blank: its page gives 1,600x, far below the figure widely reported for the game, and we could not confirm which is right. A 15-minute session like our testers' shows how a game feels, not what it pays back over time.

Licence and owner

NetEnt has belonged to Evolution since 2020: Evolution's own timeline records that it acquired NetEnt that year, and NetEnt's site names Evolution Gaming Malta Limited and its Malta licence. That company holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence, MGA/CRP/187/2010, which we checked on the MGA's register on 16 October 2026, and Evolution NetEnt (Gibraltar) Limited appears on the Gibraltar Gambling Division's list of licence holders. Evolution lists its other licences, from Sweden to Ontario, on its own site; we did not check them one by one. These cover the studio and its games, not the casino you play at: none of the casinos that take Malaysian players is licensed in Malaysia. Each game page on NetEnt's site has a free demo.

Who it suits

Players who like classic European slots with gem, adventure or retro themes, and a steady session with frequent small wins rather than wild swings. If you are chasing huge maximum wins, these classics top out at a few thousand times the bet.

Frequently asked questions

Is NetEnt legit?

Yes. NetEnt's site names Evolution Gaming Malta Limited and its Malta licence, and that company holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence, MGA/CRP/187/2010, which we checked on the MGA's register on 16 October 2026. Evolution NetEnt (Gibraltar) Limited is also on Gibraltar's list of licence holders. These cover the studio, not the casino you play at.

Who owns NetEnt?

Evolution, best known for live dealer games. Evolution's own timeline says it acquired NetEnt, along with Red Tiger, in 2020, and NetEnt's site links to its sister studios, among them Red Tiger, Nolimit City and Big Time Gaming.

What is the RTP of NetEnt slots?

NetEnt publishes one figure per game: Starburst 96.08%, Gonzo's Quest 95.97%, Twin Spin 96.55% and Dead or Alive 2 96.80%. Of the nine our testers played, Hotline is highest, at 97.04%. The figure that applies is the one in the game's information screen at your casino.

Which NetEnt slot has the biggest maximum payout?

Of the games in our table with a figure, Twin Spin Megaways, at 4,900 times the bet. Piggy Riches goes up to 2,400x and Gonzo's Quest to 2,200x; Starburst stops at 800x and Dazzle Me at 700x, all by NetEnt's own figures.

Is Starburst a low-volatility slot?

NetEnt rates it the least volatile of the nine games our testers played, and gives its hit frequency as 23% of spins. Our tester found it steady and finished level, but 15 minutes says nothing about what a game pays back.

Can I play NetEnt slots for free?

Yes. Each game page on NetEnt's own site has a free demo, so you can see how a slot plays before you try it at a casino.

Do NetEnt games work on a phone?

Yes. All three of our testers played every game upright, and none of them saw a stutter. The first game opened in 2 to 4 seconds, slowest on 4G.

Are NetEnt games in Chinese and Malay?

Yes. All three testers saw Chinese, Malay and English in the games they played.

How many casinos carry NetEnt?

Two of the 22 casinos we tested list NetEnt among their games. A studio deal says nothing about whether a casino pays out, so read the casino's own review too.

How did you test NetEnt?

Three testers each played three NetEnt games for about 15 minutes on their own phone, one on Wi-Fi, one on 5G and one on 4G, and scored the interface, the speed and the whole experience out of 5.
